THE ROCK INSIDER'S TAKE ON THE GRAMMYS

FEATURED MP3S
lcd soundsystem - "Tribulations (Tiga Mix) " (MP3)
Arcade Fire w/ David Bowie - "Wake Up (Live) " (MP3)
Death Cab For Cutie - "Different Names For The Same Thing" (MP3)
Stuck In The Sound - "Toyboy" (MP3) - Just repostin' because I really dig this song.

Like I expected any better....

The only bright spots across this year's 108 category nominee list are lcd soundsystem's 2 nominations in "Best Dance Recording" and "Best Electronic/Dance Album", Keane nominated for "Best New Artist," and the fact that BOTH Death Cab For Cutie and Arcade Fire are up for "Best Alternative Album."

Big name artists DOMINATE the nominations (like I'm suprised at all). Mariah Carey is up for 8 Grammys (W-T-F?) as are John Legend and Kanye West ( both deservingly so). Stevie Wonder and FIDDY both garnered 6 nods, Missy Elliot, Alicia Keys, and Gwen Stefani received 5, and Gorillaz and Paul McCartney made out with 4 each.

Shockers: Coldplay despite winning twice before in the "Best Alternative Album" category have been moved over (up/down? whatevs) to the "Best Rock Album" category for X&Y. The band's nods total out at 3. Fall Out Boy are up for "Best New Artist." I think hell just froze over.

That's about all the grammy coverage I can stand. Too many categories for such a poor showing....I don't know about you but Im just going to tune in to see if Harry Potter And The Half-blood Prince beats out Winnie The Pooh's Heffalump story in the "Best Spoken Word Album For Children" category, get drunk, and go to bed.

COOL ON THE INTER-NERD:
Chris at GvB is showing his love for my boys in Birdmonster. Birdmonster just showed up at #7 on The Tripwire's Lifestyle Chart. Holy hell. so much rad stuff going on for them. Makes me soo happy.

Dreams of Horses posted his Top 5 of 2005 list

TONIGHT IN LOS ANGELES
Loose Tooth @ Joseph's
Shooter Jennings, Rock N' Roll Soldiers @ The Troubadour
Princess Superstar @ The Echo
Go to the Beauty Bar in Hollywood or Shortstop in Echo Park tonight. Their DJS on a Thursday usually don't suck and the people aren't exceedingly lame.

******* On a more serious note: Today is the 25th Anniversary Of John Lennon's passing. I put on Working Class Hero today and it reminded what a gift he had and what he gave to the world before his life was tragically cut short. Thank you.
