I have to say it has not left my car stereo since. It is very rare that I keep an album in on repeat - especially since getting an iPOD. I've developed a strong case of POD-DD. I'll be blunt. I took one look at this band and thought "Oh Jeez here comes another Sounds wanna-be band. Super hot blonde nordic looking singer, 4 dark and desheveled indie rocker looking dudes. Come'on gimme a break I've seen/heard it all before, right? WRONG. Dead Wrong. I popped open their CD and tossed it into my CD changer and it was more than apparent - there is something undeniably special about The Duke Spirit. Smart lyrics, Leila's steady yet amazingly unbreakable voice, and a austere talent which screams "Hey, I could do this in my sleep." The band is heading stateside for a string of shows, SXSW. and the Coachella Music Festival. The Duke Spirit will release their debut L.P, Cuts Across The Land, in the U.S. next Tuesday, March 7th on Startime. I STRONGLY suggest you pick it up.
