Western Migration Brings The Rock To LA

Ben Gibbard - The Lashes I went to two shows last night: The Lashes w/ Forward, Russia! @ Club Spaceland and Division Day @ The Echo. My new friend Steve from the UK came along for the ride. Forward, Russia! @ Club Spaceland First stop was Spaceland for Forward, Russia! who put on a great show for getting off a 5 hr flight 2 hrs earlier! The band displayed a suprising amount of energy for how arduous their day had been thus far. The band will be playing Cinespace TONIGHT. Division Day @ The Echo Then we headed over to the Echo for Division Day. Such a great band. They rocked it to a nearly full house. I ran into James from Dirty Little Secret and the guys from Speak N' Spell Records who were visiting from Australia there as well - Only fueling my school girl crush for the guy. The Lashes @ Club Spaceland We then bounced back to Spaceland to catch the end of The Lashes set. I have to say their banter in between sets is almost as entertaining as their live performance. Frontman Ben Gibbard's facial expressions are the best I've seen since Craig Nicholls of The Vines. Long Story short to this long night - Show Hopping Is Soo Much Fun. LA craziness continues as all the bands who played SXSW migrate west to show off for label execs, employees, and press agents hell bent on avoiding the cluster fuck of Austin. Good news is it means TONS OF AMAZING SHOWS THIS WEEK. Bad News, Trying to figure out which ones you want to go to.
