[MP3] Mezzanine Owls - Coyote [view photo set] Last night my roommate and I walked down to The Echo to see our friend Jack and his band, Mezzanine Owls, play their first show ever at The Echo. I hadn't heard their music yet so as I stepped into 1822 Sunset that night it was with complete virgin ears (I know shocking). I grabbed whiskey sour from the bar right as they hit the stage. It was a slow build at first - but 2 songs in I could tell this was going to be a band I was really going to enjoy. The venue wasn't packed but it was definately on the "full" side. By the end of their set I was in love with their simple yet catchy rock tunes, smart lyrics, and great beat. Yayyy! Another great LA band is born! Mezzanine Owls recently recorded a yet-to-be-titled album with Andy Lemaster (now it's overhead, bright eyes, azure ray) in Athens, GA. I can't wait to hear it. The band doesn't have any upcoming shows posted on their myspace page and their site is still under construction, but you can bet as soon as they're up I'll be postin' 'em on RockInsider.
