I have been experiencing a CUH-RAZY workload leading into the long weekend. I think I shall much enjoy my long holiday. I'm flying out to New York City for a few days of R&R (If there is such a thing in the city that never sleeps) Last night I ventured out to the Knitting Factory to see my good friends in Briertone lay down one of the best sets I have EVER seen them play (20 + shows and counting). It took me over an hour to get to venue from my apt because of a movie premiere. Yeeesh. I got to the Knitting Factory in a slightly pissy mood. Traffic has a way of doing that. Once I was in the Main Room I completely forgot about it. Briertone - complete with Banjo, Upright Bass, Violin, and backing vocals went completely nuts. Their performance was nothing short of inspiring. There was plenty of feet stomping and clapping from the audience. For their last song, they played a track called "Gypsy Girl." Singer Adam Pasion announced that he wrote the track after an hour and half conversation with a homeless man in San Luis Obispo. It was amazing. Definately made my week. BRIERTONE - KNITTING FACTORY MAIN ROOM JUNE 27TH, 2006 [view entire photo set] 28 Photos I said good night to the gents in Briertone and headed out to Safari Sam's to catch Johnossi and Dirty Little Secret's set at Safari Sam's. DIRTY LITTLE SECRET Due to the same fucking jam I missed Johnossi's set (I heard it was great though). This was my first experience inside the venue. The interior is pretty swank and the stage set up was awesome. The lot was already full when I rolled up at 11:45 pm, so I had to park all the way down Sunset Blvd. I got to the door and instantly was greeted by a mob of people and my friend Jana. She helped me get in right as Dirty Little Secret started their set. I have seen them play a lot in the past few weeks and at this show it seemed like they were having a total blast on stage. Quite refreshing. and then it was time for a special performance from ..And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead. WHO IS THIS GUY? No, No no wait This guy hopped up on stage and "delighted" the audience for abt 5 minutes (5 minutes too long if you ask me). ...AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD AHHH, Trail Of Dead. They hopped on Dirty Little Secret's equipment just after midnight. They played a lot of old stuff, especially off the first record. It was fucking rad. It made me feel like I was 17 again sitting in my room rocking out to Source Tags and Codes. [VIEW MORE PICS] Aiight, It's late in the day and I must get shit done.
