The weather is warm, the beach bums are tanned, and all over Los Angeles there are FREE SHOWS popping up like daisies. I don't think I've had this much FREE Stuff to do on a Monday Night...well...ever. There are six, COUNT THEM, SIX FREE SHOWS IN LOS ANGELES TONIGHT. First free show tonight: THE SHYS. You might recognize The Shys as the band all over the front page of myspace. I featured this band numerous times back when they were called The Gun Shys and a staple of the Club Moscow scene. The band recently signed with Sire Records and will be putting out their debut full length, Astoria, TOMORROW. IN WAVES [MP3] In Waves - Love As Scarlett In Waves played Hell Ya! back in February along side Cold War Kids and Foreign Born. It was the second show the band ever played. They've come along way since then - landing a FREE Monday night residency at the Silverlake Lounge (Cold War Kids shot into the spotlight with the same residency back in Dec. 2005). DARKER MY LOVE [MP3] Darker My Love - What's A Man's Paris Club Spaceland's long-standing Free Monday Night Residency continues ce soir with psychedelic rockers Darker My Love manning the helm with Lemon Sun, Protokoll, and The Hourly Radio providing support. Spaceland was the first to perfect the art of the free Monday night, thus ensuring its status as the hipster-go-to spot for cheap alcohol and kick ass music in the early part of the week. BLVD TONIGHT Blvd will be rocking Safari's Tiki themed digs. My friend Adam saw Blvd down at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa last week and said they were fantastic.
