New Music For The Mundays: Scanners
![]() FEATURED ARTIST: SCANNERS official site myspace [MP3] Scanners - Low Life [MP3] Scanners - Raw Ahh the downfalls of last week's craziness and traveling - I missed every single one of Scanners appearances in Los Angeles last week. I know I have been critical of Dim Mak founder Steve Aoki in the past, but I really must applaud all his hardwork and excellent approach in bringing Scanners over to the U.S. Scanners debut album, Violence Is Golden, is ridiculously catchy and deserves all the attention its getting. My first experience with the band came from my good friend Heather. We were on our way to a show (I seriously can't remember which one) when she turned to me and said "Dude, you want to hear something INSANE?" Heather threw on a demo of "Raw." I was fucking spellbound. Even in its early stages you could tell Scanners had all the makings of something spectacular. Violence is Golden is nothing short of it. Singer Sarah's dynamic vocals go from razor sharp to sweet and subdued in less than .5 seconds. Tracks like "Evil Twin" represent the softer side and immediately explodes into "Raw." This band is not afraid to be melancholy, not afriad to be poppy, and is certainly not afraid to be 100% candid and raw. The band just flew back to the UK this morning (drats). Never fear they plan on returning to the U.S. sometime this fall (hmmm tale end of October looks promising) ![]() SCANNERS - Violence Is Golden $12 - [Purchase Now] Track Listing: 01. Joy 02.
