[MP3] Winter Flowers - Hey Ho
[MP3] Winter Flowers - Too Young To Marry
[MP3] Winter Flowers
- Country Fair

I'm fully convinved that 5 piece folk act Winter Flowers transported themselves to modern day Echo Park from 1963 San Francisco in a magic turquoise balloon. It's the only way I can explain their profound understanding of everything 60s.

Singer Christof Certik's wavering voice on "Hey Ho" conjures images of Neil Young circa Harvest (Quite possibly my favorite album of all time). The anthemic track "Too Young To Marry" is 6 minutes of bittersweet longing, warbling mandolin, and an unjittering sense of melody. Glorious.

Winter Flowers will be performing TONIGHT at Club Spaceland with Darker My Love. Admission is FREE. I'm pretty sure they go on early-ish so get over your hipster pretention and get there at a reasonable hour.

UPCOMING EVENTS IN LOS ANGELES:

GUESS WHAT'S BACKKKKKKKKK.....

Little Radio's Summer Camp/BBQ RETURNS this Sunday with 4 amazing bands, even more tomfoolery and water sports, and plenty of cheap spirits. Be sure to head down to the warehouse Aug 6th featuring live performances from The Submarines, The Upside Down, Sea Wolf, and Restaurant.

WED. AUG. 16th, 2006

RockInsider.com Presents:

BIRDMONSTER

Birdmonster, Division Day, and Briertone LIVE at Club Spaceland.

[MP3] Birdmonster - No Midnight (Live)
[MP3] Division Day - Hurricane
[MP3] Briertone - Run Your Mouth

I'm unofficially calling this show the "Family Reunion. " This is the first Rock Insider show I have done in over a year. Briertone played the last one in Aug 2005 and I really don't need to re-iterate my undying devotion for Division Day and/or Birdmonster.

These three bands make up the core of my musical family - and the fact that all THREE will be sharing the same stage on the same night has made me happier than a hipster at an American Apparel sample sale. I don't care if one person comes to this show (which you should. Every band is amazing) - I will be perfectly content just being surrounded by the music I love.

Tickets are only $8 and you can pre-order them online right here.

And finally, for my own amusement, Stevie Nicks everyone - Banging her heart out on a tamborine. It's like we were separated at birth.
