Review: Eskimohunter, The Minor Canon, Bodies of Water @ The Echo

FEATURED ARTIST: ESKIMOHUNTER

BODIES OF WATER

I arrived at the venue in time to catch of few songs of Bodies of Water's set. Quite a fantastic band that reminded me a lot of Tilly and The Wall. I think it had something to so with the glee club style male/female vocals and propensity for singing off key (in a good way). The band rolled through their last song like a bike messenger who just ran into a parked car - Not quite injured, but definately a delayed and rough start.

The highlight of the band's set definately was the keyboardist/vocalists ADORABLE Dorothy Hamil cut which made me miss my own blonde mop top.

THE MINOR CANON

The Minor Canon were up next. Two drummers, Three horn players, A keyboardist, bass player, and acoustic guitar all made their way to the stage in 3 Piece Suits (minus the guitar of course). One look at their set up and I could tell this was going to be something great (and that two songs in the band would realize yeah suits in this weather = NOT a good idea). My friend Adam and I were COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by this band. The singer's voice was just magnificent and the horn section provided the apropriate amount of "Emotional Horns."

Eskimohunter rounded out my evening with a fantastic follow up to their Little Radio debut. The addition of stage lighting and a more rehearsed and refined sound added to the overall mystique they hinted at during their Little Radio show. The sound was rich, the band was in sync, and I annoyed the heck outta everyone in the front row takng pictures (Sorry!)
