Bloggers Who Leak Entire Albums

FUCK YOU.

You give bloggers who actually care about music a bad name.

Discuss.

I can't agree more. If anyone notices this on elbo.ws, please email me directly. Thanks JAX!

I, too, couldn't agree more.

We bloggers write about things we care about. It doesn't make sense to hurt the bands who make the music we claim to love.

Artists live and die for their product - it's all hard work and creativity. What right do any of us have to steal from them.???

hey jax, i sent you an e-mail about this very subject/my essay last week but it was having some trouble getting through - if you didn't get it, thanks for reading my piece and clarifying things for me.

i think most people are holding off downloading this because it's incomplete and it's a poor rip, if that's any consolation.

Totally agree Jax. Right on.

I came across some site the other day that had an exclusively "released" EP for download in its entirety and almost cursed the screen away but at the same time I didn't do anything about it. I haven't come across any albums for download lately besides that one but I have never really voiced anything to the authors of the blogs about it.

Something is definately not right about it and having this pointed out (I knew it was wrong to begin with and disagree with entirely) I will begin to call out those bloggers who blatantly do this. If no one is saying anything then it will probably just continue.

I run into thes assholes all the time (Regnyouth anyone?) On top of posting entire albums illegally, they put ups ridiculous disclaimers and statements about supporting the artist...and WORST of all, SOME OF THEM ARE GETTING ADVERTISING REVENUE FROM BLOGADS AND DOUBLECLICK.

Please report these douchebags to the advertisers, even though most the the advertisers don't want to deal with this issue.

For the record, I do online promotion for many indie labels and try to deal with this stuff if I run into it, but I am not the internet police and there isn't enough time in my day to work on this all the time. I'm really glad to see a forceful thread about it here.

You rule Jax.

A blogger that used to write for my site uploaded three songs from an album once and got castrated about it two years ago - now it really pisses me off when I see a site with piss poor writing the leaks an entire record and has a higher tecnorati rating!

Blogger JAX said ... (August 14, 2006 8:21 PM) :

I have a new policy

Im calling it the "Reverse Tickle"

You leak and entire album, I'm gunna hunt you down and give you a Columbian Neck Tie. period.

Yeah it TOTALLY pisses me off when I see someone who leaks full albums not only MAKING MONEY OFF IT (advertising), But also try and say they are SUPPORTING artists by doing it.

THAT IS NOT WHAT BLOGGING IS ABOUT.

Bloggers support artists and other bloggers. If I like a record I want to tell as many people as possible in the hopes that someone else will hear it and appreciate it too.

IT MAKES ME SOO HAPPY seeing bands that I love get some well deserved press.

If you think I'm some jaded blogger who had everything handed to them: FUCK YOU. I still buy records, pay for concert tickets, and buy merch. It's a $300 + dollar a month habit. thank god I quit drinking or I'd be in the poorhouse.

Word to all bloggers: DO IT FOR THE RIGHT REASON: CUZ YOU LOVE MUSIC.

DUH.
