Birdmonster w/ Seb and Kevin of Division Day @ Club Spaceland 8/16/06 [VIEW ENTIRE PHOTO SET] Last night was simply magic. Yeah, I know how stupid and cliche that sounds. The people who were there will totally agree with me and understand exactly. IT 'TWAS MAGGGGIC. I don't think I have had that much fun at a show in such a very LOOOOOONG TIME. Last night I had the pleasure and priveledge of seeing my three favorite bands in LA, three bands I am honored to call some of my closest friends, sharing the same stage together: Birdmonster, Division Day, and Briertone. I met Birdmonster at the venue around 8 PM. Division Day was still sound checking. We waited for those mall truckers to finish and discussed the finer points of sound engineering before heading out to fill our bellies. Onward to Leila Thai where Division Day and Birdmonster enjoyed a tour kick off feast of loads of greasy cheap noodly stuff stuff and B.Y.O BOOZE. Peter played sommelier and picked a delightful 2006 Yellowtail from the 7 Eleven up the street. -- Meanwhile, back at the venue the evening started off right with Peter Walker. He did an amazing job and has some really great song, but as I was running around I didn't get an opportunity to snap any pics. I feel bad. He just released a new album on Dangerbird Records. you can pick it up in their online store. Just before D-Day went on stage Seb ran out and handed quite possibly the greatest present I have ever recieved - my very own, VERY AWESOME Tamborine! courtesy of musicglob.com. Complete with Light Show. Yeah, I rocked the fuck outta that shit on stage with them. Justin from Birdmonster joined in as well. You can see more pictures at MusicGlob.com. DIVISION DAY Division Day proved once again why they are one of my favorite bands. Period. BIRDMONSTER Birdmonster NAILED their set. It was glorious. They broke out the banjo to perform "No Midnight" and The fellers in Division Day hopped up on stage to provide percussion during "Alabama." BRIERTONE Briertone....sigh.....awakening. I have never been soo proud. It was their new drummer Cory's first show EVER playing the drums (which he picked up 4 weeks ago). He did such an amazing job and just fucking went for it. You could tell the kid has raw talent. Despite a few rough patches (and a few flying drum sticks) the set was outstanding. Such a great night that I will surely remember for years to come.
