The Dears/Fields At Troubadour TONIGHT

FEATURED ARTIST: FIELDS
official site

[MP3] Fields - Song For The Fields
[MP3] Fields - Heretic

Someone sent me a copy of Fields EP (Or as they say in the UK - MINI-Album) 7 From The Village recently. I get a lot of packages in the mail and I don't know what possessed me to open this one. The CD had nothing more than a white label and FIELDS written across the top in huge bold letters. No real information - Just music. I popped it into my stereo and was positively spellbound.

Epic shoegze rock loaded with distortion and vocoders, sweeping guitars, a touch of modern folk mixed with canadian indie pop, and gorgeous synth. What a BEAUTIFUL record. It's no wonder "Song For The Fields" is getting rave reviews all over the internets. I also quite enjoy "Heretic."

As I did my research I discovered that my roommate's good friend Thorunn now plays keyboards in the band!

The 5 piece seem to be stirring the pot in the U.S. rather quickly. I hope they don't fall pray to over hype - this record is just too damn good to get lost in the NME melee.

I for one am very excited to see them at The Troubadour TONIGHT with The Dears.

7 Songs From The Village is out now on the band's own Black Lab label and Atlantic. Be sure to pick up their album on Insound.

Don't Forget TOMORROW NIGHT:

[MP3] The Minor Canon - A False Start
[MP3] Briertone - Cheers
[Stream] Sparrow's Gate - Golden

I've certainly got some way to go before the site about Travel Agencies meets the standards of your blog.

We were there at the Dears/Fields show last Wed., right in front of Nick and Jamie. Check out my post at

I posted two cuts that will probably be on their debut.

Do us a favor and refer us to Hype!

Jax, thanks for making me discover the Fields. Great music. Too bad here in Europe it's impossible to find their CD (sorry, no digital music for me :-). I've even tried on Amazon.com but they only have a 4 songs mini-mini album :-(
