FEATURED ARTIST: THE MINOR CANON official site myspace [MP3] The Minor Canon - A False Start The Minor Canon are one of those bands who you've probably seen dozens of time but never realized. They've opened for the likes of The Little Ones and Co-headlined gigs with Eskimohunter and performed at this year's Fuck Yeah Fest and Sunset Junction. My roommate and I are fairly obsessed with The Minor Canon. We're pretty much stalking them around their eastside shows. Ever since the I saw the band at The Echo back in July I can't seem to get enough. I know that statement is pretty Inconsequential - I mean, When DO I EVER GET OBSESSED WITH BANDS. Regardless of my overzealous nature and TOTAL over usage of declarative statements - The Minor Canon are quite simply A GREAT BAND. They inject a heavy dose of soul into their indie rock fervor. It's hard to believe that the seven piece ensemble - complete with horn section, piano, and TWO frickin' drummers began as singer Paul Larson's solo project. The songs are well constructed, the horns appropriately used, and the band in their 3 piece suits get better and better everytime I see them. Night this Thursday Oct 5th at Little Pedro's in Downtown LA - presented by Rock Insider (Yay!). I put my photoshop skills to work on Saturday and made this flyer (ain't it pretty?). Briertone and Sparrow's Gate will also be performing. I get a lot of smack for my love of Briertone and the amount in which I talk about them on this site - but I feel the need to say that this Thursday will be Briertone's last LA show until December-ish.
