Exclusive Download: Great Northern "Low Is A Height"

GREAT NORTHERN LIVE THIS SATURDAY AT LITTLE RADIO

[MP3] Great Northern - "Low Is A Height"

Great Northern are arguably Silverlake's best kept secret. Sure, the band have played some major shows and festivals (F%^K Yeah Fest, Sunset Junction) and even did a a very successful residency at The Echo last month. For the most part though when I mention Great Northern I am met with a question mark and people mistaking them for this band. Honestly people.

All that is bound to change in 2007. Great Northern recently signed to Eenie Meenie Records (Home of Irving, Oranger, Pine*AM, DJ Me DJ You, Hockey Night) and their new track "Home" has been getting quite a few plays on Indie 103.1 FM. Things for Great Northern are definately looking up.

The band just added the above track "Low Is A Height" to their Myspace Page but you can download it first right here on Rock Insider. The track comes from the band's New EP - which you can pick up at shows. A newer version of the track will also appear on Great Northern's first full length full length, Trading Twilight for Daylight - due out in May.

Great Northern will be heading out on a short West Coast tour this months with my good buddies Division Day. Although I applaud their effort at flyer making, I MUCH prefer DDay Kevin's viking...

As Sassy Magazine used to say, "Cute band alert!"

Not to talk smack, but I feel a lot of the bands buzzed about on here don't have much in the way of substance. They've got a gimmick or two, but gimmicks wear out

Great Northern have consistently improved on their live performances and have always had an impressive musical style. They are awfully nice people as well, and I plan to see them at the Little Radio event.

i like to consider this site more substance and less gimmick. I am ALL ABOUT lyrical content. for me thats where the bulk of substance lies. that and a truly dynamic voice

if youre ever bored truly listen to briertone, peter and the worlf, and ferraby lionheart's lyrics
