At Silverlake Lounge [MP3] Peter and The Wolf - The Ivy [MP3] Briertone - Behold [MP3] Dodo Bird - Men Peter and The Wolf My first introduction to Peter and The Wolf (Aka Red Hunter) came from Bill Baird and the gentleman of Sound Team at their Big Orange studio back in March. At the time I had spent 4 solid days surviving on a steady diet of beer and sleep deprivation. I was completely out of it. Bill stated that Red's music was nothing short of genius. I do believe he even introduced me to Red and told me tales of his performances in graveyards, and old buildings. My memory seems to be slipping slightly so it could be something I imagined. The little I know about Red Hunter has come in the form of folk tales told by more than a few musicians, bloggers, artists, and travelers who all attested to his creativity and greatness. In Fall 2006 Peter and The Wolf released Lightness - a simply gorgeous record full of short stories, wandering dreams, spooky oohs, and a distinct voice. I started listening to it more and more. It became the soundtrack to my winter days. There was something so cleansing about Red's voice. Something almost hypnotic. The album received a respectable 7.8 rating from Pitchfork and has been heralded by the blog community as a subdued masterpiece.I whole heartedly agree. Red Hunter has been in Los Angeles recording for the past few weeks. A while back Red posted a bulletin on his myspace page looking for help booking a show in Los Angeles. I just couldn't say no. Rock Insider is pleased to present Peter and The Wolf alongside Dodo Bird (San Francisco), The Lottery (Los Angeles), and our dear friends Briertone this Wednesday January 10th at Silverlake Lounge.
