How'd Blonde Redhead Know It Was My Birthday?

Blonde Redhead [MP3] Blonde Redhead - 23 I felt compelled to post this track because: a.) I am quite the Blonde Redhead fan. And b.) I shall celebrate 23 years on this earth in less than 3 weeks time (March 10th the party is on!). "23" is the title track off Blonde Redhead's forthcoming album - in stores April 10th. It's as if Blonde Redhead knew I needed a signature album for 2007. 23 (not to be confused with this 23) is the band's first release in 3 years. 2004's Misery is a Butterfly left many diehard BR fans perplexed. The emotional record was moody and (dare I say) dark - a far cry from the beautiful drone and crunchy noise rock that originally threw them in the same class as Sonic Youth. The record was a departure from the usual, but any record with Kazu Makino's haunting voice is still a gem in my eyes. With 23, Blonde Redhead have returned to their roots. The title track soars effortlessly without over powering the listener. It is easily one of the finest tracks I have heard all year. It's firm beat keeps the listener in line while surreal vocals and BR's trademark swell transport would be travelers to the furthest reaches of the sonic realm. This record might as well come with a repeat button. I'm going to be playing it for the rest of the year. Blonde Redhead will be performing live at this years' SXSW festival (March 14th at EMO's - 4ad Showcase) and have a month long U.S tour planned April 13th through May 12th (view dates here).
