Eastern Conference Champions - Ameritown

Eastern Conference Champions New Album Ameritown in stores July 19th

[MP3] Eastern Conference Champions - The Box

First things first, I want to apologize for being so out of touch the last few days. I've been going through a lot and have been severely distracted by the stressors of the world. I'll admit it. I have been down right depressed well, since January. I've never been one to adapt well to change. I always brave through it with a smile on my face, but sometimes it becomes to much and my body shuts down, my brain shuts off, and the things and people I love get ignored while the JAX pity party takes center stage in my narrow sighted life. This spiral has seemed at times almost impossible to get out of. I've become an emotionless machine - just trying to power through everyday. I've had to make some tough decisions in the past few days. You'll here more about those in the coming weeks. Things are starting to change for the better. Special thanks goes out to Aubrey for helping out with a few posts on Rock Insider.

On to business: I wanted to talk a bit about Eastern Conference Champions today. I was a bit thrown by their moniker at first. The name Eastern Conference Champions (ECC for short) immediately conjured images of Sum41 era pop punk in my mind. As far as I can tell there isn’t a liberty spike among them. These blue collared lads from Bucks County, PA write fantastic rock-centric songs about every day life, liberation, and working for the man (and hating every minute of it).

I received their Home Away EP a few months back to my own detriment it sat on my desk for months. The band played a residency at the Silverlake Lounge back in February. I somehow managed to miss every show (I seriously need to get out more). It wasn’t until my friend Jana sent me their track “The Box” that I began to understand what this band was about.

Some songs get you and some songs GET you. Immediately I visualized “The Box” being one of those songs that would be played in a montage sequence of my life. The pensive drum roll builds through the first verse while Singer Josh Ostrander's warbly voice hovers just overhead leading into one helluva driving chorus. I could totally see this song being on Gray's Anatomy or some teen drama on the CW.

Eastern Conference Champion's first full length, Ameritown, is slated to be in stores July 17th via Suretone Records. The record is loaded with anthemic tracks that beg to be drunkenly lip synched by co-workers after work hours.

ECC are currently out on tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and will be heading out with OZMA shortly after. It will be a while before the band swings back towards Los Angeles. Head over to their myspace page to see videos from the road and demand the band to come back to LA.

I have to be honest, I wasn't really impressed with ECC.

Congrats on becoming an aunt. Again.
