Playing Catchup
| JAX has returned and is wiped out. Sick. Migraine. Fever. Swamped with work. She apologizes for being human and not having posted in a while. Here's a recap on last Thursday's show... Derek Halet opened the show with his incredible voice... ![]() ![]() He finishes up his EP this week. Incredibly looking forward to it. Next up was Miniature Tigers who had a great set...love these guys and am looking forward to more from them... ![]() ![]() ![]() Tonight there's a concert not to be missed from 2 of my favorite Silverlake acts. Great Northern and The Movies are playing at the Echo (free)...plain and simple you should just go out and see these two bands. It's free and if you don't go you're just bitter at the world. I actually saw them play together when they played at Boardner's months ago for Let's Independent and just wanted more. Thankfully Great Northern has been getting more press and radio play lately. I can't say enough but this is just a great lineup. To round out the night at the Echo is Twilight Sleep who I was turned onto via Jax's last Reservoir Mix. Killer ethereal sound! On the opposite side of town is Lily Allen at the Wiltern. Considering she's cancelled the rest of her North American tour for who knows how many reasons, now is the time to catch her. She was adorable at Coachella (despite the forgetting of lyrics) and her band killed it. You know what? Just go out and catch any music in LA or if you're a band write a song. Whatever you do support the arts and support creativity. In LA we have one of the best music and art scenes. On the inside we're jaded but if you lived somewhere else in America you'd see the difference. Be thankful and continue to make it thrive. Without us...the man wins. Damn the man to Hell!
