Somebody get me a cold compress. Joseph Arthur's melancholy masterpiece Nuclear Daydream was easily one of my top 10 albums of last year. Somehow it still manages to find its way into my regular listening rotation. Amid his fall tour schedule and television appearances Joseph and the gang managed to record another stellar record. Let's Just Be was released to their world in April. Arthur went into the studio wanting to really bring out a warm, live sound. He certainly did. Let's Just Be truly captures what Joseph Arthur is like live. You can hear every crack, every twitter, every buzz. Between track commentary places you right in the recording studio with his Lonely Astronauts. "Take Me Home" - one his slow building ballads, puts you in a trance with its subtle elegance. Right when you begin to drift away he brings you back to reality with a soul-filled rock masterpiece like "Diamond Ring" - posted above. This record sealed the deal for me.
