For me, music is not just a job, it's a passion. Hell, it's not just a passion, it's a full blown obsession that encompasses my ENTIRE life. When I'm not working, I'm writing about music. When I'm not writing about music, I'm putting on shows. When I'm not putting on shows, I'm DJing. And when I'm not DJing, I'm STILL going out to see live music. When you love something that much you can't help but want to be surrounded by it 24/7. Recently I was given the opportunity to do something I have wanted to do since the first night I slept in my car in Los Angeles. I am pleased, elated, and so incredibly excited to announce the beginning of JAXart - a newly formed label that will focus on music, art, photography, and social outreach in the city of Los Angeles. Our first release will be from Long Beach experimental rock band The Valley Arena. On September 11th, 2007 JAXart/Eschatone Records will release The Valley Arena's single "Kick At The Ceiling" on 7-Inch colored vinyl. The b-side is a killer remix by Free the Robots. ONLY 1,000 seven inches will be produced and distributed nationally. When they're gone - they're gone. The single and remix will be available on all digital carriers with a bonus track, and when you purchase the vinyl in the JAXart online store (coming soon) you will be able to download MP3s of both tracks - FOR FREE. In addition to releasing singles from LA's burgeoning music scene - JAXart will showcase local artists, photographers, filmmakers, DJs, and craftsmen at a new monthly night at Pehrspace - a fantastic art gallery and venue in my local hood of Echo Park. The first JAXart Show will be August 31st with performances from The Valley Arena (also their release show), The Soft Hands, Wake Up Incinerate, and The Front. Admission is $5. The Valley Arena are currently out on a six week US Tour and will be doing a residency at Silverlake Lounge every Monday in September.
