[MP3] Warpaint - Stars Welcome to Rock Insider's latest edition of "avoid naming that celebrity musician" - where we try our darndest to have you listen to an amazing new track before you get jaded because one or more members of the band may or may not have starred in movies with Heath Ledger. I found this lil' piece of shoegaze heaven by LA's newest all female fuzz and drone project - Warpaint through la-underground. The recording is nothing more than a home demo but in its infancy you can tell it has immense potential. These ladies have taken a page from legendary art rockers such as Blonde Redhead and Sonic Youth to craft a sound that is truly stunning. Maybe it's just me, but I also hear a hint of Cohen-esque intonation in vocals. I urge you to listen to this track before you seek out their myspace page. This band is well beyond the Big Japan and Dogstar's of the world. Warpaint will be performing at the El Rey on August 3rd with The Slints.
