well, i think if you take a look at all the people nominated (i have no idea who was nominated) kanye should have probably won. mtv is junk, but at least you have someone like kanye who is trying to be as innovative as a rapper can be. i saw him perform with peter, bjorn, and john on a pitchfork vid a few weeks back... he is trying. then you have britney spears, who gets the opening spot for the vma's and i don't think i need to say another word about that.

britney got the opening spot because they knew she was not prepared and she would screw up and raise ratings. Do some research - they were aware of how unprepared she was, and the spectacle was what they were going for - not because she's had a video worthy of an award or that she's an artist worthy of her billing.
