Peter and The Wolf - The Ivori Palms

The Ivori Palms is available now.

[MP3] Peter And The Wolf - Where Summer Goes

I thought it impossible for Red Hunter - the man behind experimental folk project Peter and The Wolf, to top the haunting beauty of his 2006 album Lightness. There is something divinely cleansing about his simple songs of life and love. Then again, I've learned to expect nothing but the impossible from the inventive and charismatic performer. Peter and the Wolf recently self-released The Ivori Palms - an album Hunter recorded in the solitude of a Canadian warehouse he live/worked in this summer. The name for the album came to Hunter in a dream that featured his hero - Dan Eldon. You can read about the encounter right here.

The Ivori Palms hints at what could be a turning point for the performer. Not only does it include his trademark folk songs (See "Where Summer Goes" above) but also a large number of lush and lively arrangements featuring bass guitar and drums. The album also features several guest appearances from friends of the project - including Bill Baird of Sound Team/Big Orange Studios (who also recorded 3 tracks on the album) and the amazing Dana Falconberry.

The Ivori Palms is yet another great piece in the complex puzzle Red Hunter has built for himself. I encourage you to seek out more of his intriguing work.
