Introducing The Cobra Lilies

[MP3] Cobra Lilies - There's Always Love (Rough Demo)
[MP3] Cobra Lilies - Tiny Dot In The Deep Blue Sea (Rough Demo)

Now seems as good a time as any to unveil a new project I've been playing bass with - Cobra Lilies.

Cobra Lilies started as a side project of Eli and Mary Chartkoff of The Monolators. The duo wanted to create a home for a new collection of kooky folk tunes they'd been writing. Soon the project morphed into a full band complete with banjo, auto harp, 12 string guitar, bass, trumpet, and tap dancer. Yes, I said it, TAP DANCER.

In addition to the traditional folk elements the Cobra Lilies also manage to squeeze in slide whistles, tambourines, and a kazoo orchestra into their live performance. The songs range from whimsical tunes about vampires and mermaids to stirring Spanish wartime ballads. I am so stoked to be playing with them. Music is all about having fun. Playing with The Cobra Lilies is pure unadulterated FUN.

The recordings posted above are tracks we made at my first practice with the group. They are super rough but give you a good picture of what the project is about. Plans to record are in the works! Stay tuned!

We will be playing tomorrow night at midnight at Mr Ts Bowl. Admission is FREE. If you'd like to join the show bring your favorite noisemaker and hop up on stage.
