New Music From The Pity Party

The Pity Party are arguably one of the most innovative and intriguing bands in Los Angeles today. Heisenflei's ability to multi-task on drum/keys/and vocals simultaneously makes even the pros jealous. Pair that with M's hypnotic guitars and deep space melodies and you have a recipe for world domination.

The band have been getting a barrage of good press lately. In 2007 the band released their first EP, toured with The Raveonettes, performed at Sunset Junction and The Detour Festival, and even won "Best LA Band" In an LA Weekly Reader's poll.

So what's in store for 2008? The Pity Party will unveil new music, are doing a free Monday night residency at Spaceland in February, and have plans to head out to Texas for this year's SXSW Music Festival.

Earlier this week The Pity Party posted a new song - "Bottom Of The Hole" on their myspace page. You can stream the track above thanks to Imeem. The stripped down brooding ballad was recorded on an out of tune piano and will appear on the band's new 4 song EP "Orgy Porgy" which will be available for $5 at the band's Spaceland Residency in limited quantity.

The packaging for the EP is made from recycled billboard vinyl and cardboard and features artwork by local artist Ronald Dzerigian. The packaging for each copy is lovingly hand sewn by M and Heisenflei themselves.

Orgy Porgy is just a sampling of music the band has been working on. The Pity Party plan to release their first full length later this year.
