New Music From The Breeders

The Breeders announce new album + US Tour My girl crush on Neko Case is forever unwaivering. She is and always will be tops in my book. However, Kim and Kelly Deal of The Breeders come in a very close second and third. One of my favorite memories from childhood is rocking out to The Breeders's "Cannonball" every week as my friend Emily's older sisters drove us to ballet class. They were also twins and had just gotten their driver's license which as 9 yrs olds we thought was wicked cool. They also had a strange obsession with Candlebox but I won't hold that against them... The Breeders 1993 album Last Splash achieved cult status as the band dropped off the map during most of the late nineties early 2000's. Kim Deal resurfaced in 2004 for a reunion tour with her band mates from The Pixies. The documentary loudQUIETloud followed The Pixies through their reunion tour and included several segments of Kim and Kelly working on new Breeders music. Well folks, IT'S FINALLY HERE. The Breeders will release a new album entitled Mountain Battles on April 8th through 4AD. "Bang On" - the first track to be revealed from the album was recently posted on the band's website. It's a very short, lo-fi tracks. I'm not sure what to make of it exactly. Download the MP3 below and take a listen for yourself. The Breeders announced US tour dates (view here) and will be playing SXSW next week - including a headline spot at the gargantuan Mess With Texas Party next Saturday March 15th in Waterloo Park.
