Avi Buffalo (Long Beach, CA & Los Alamitos, CA) Avi Buffalo are the kind of band that make you glad your mother forced you into piano lessons at 7 years old. They write gorgeous orchestral pop and folk songs that show a wisdom well beyond their years. Oh, did I mention the band is still in high school? Please oh please oh please oh please don't write them off as another cutesy kid band that play indie rock. Their professionalism, musicianship, and focus put them in a class all their own. I could see them easily holding their own against the likes of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Annuals, The Walkman, and Spoon. This show is The Monolators final First Friday performance as they pass the torch off to Seasons who will be taking over the night.
