Best of CMJ 2008 - Passion Pit
![]() Passion Pit (Cambridge, MA) Yesterday I posted about Ponytail being one of my two mind blowing acts fully realized at CMJ this year (read post). Today we unveil the second and final contender - the Boston based beat masters known as Passion Pit. [MP3] Passion Pit - I've Got Your Number This band played pretty much every major day party and major showcase - including the hot as hell, can barely move let alone breathe NME Showcase at The Annex. The majority of the crowd was there to see them. I got so overheated and claustrophobic that I had to leave after only 2 songs. I caught them later at the Planetary Skewer Party at Piano's. One word - FAB. Passion Pit's new EP Chunk Of Change - out now on French Kiss Records has been in regular rotation in my IPOD for several months now. I have featured their tracks in mix tapes and have alluded to greatness but was waiting for the perfect moment to pop their "Rock Insider Full Blown Post" cherry. Ladies and germs - Passion Pit have finally made their way to Los Angeles and will be playing TOMORROW night at The Henry Fonda Theater with Yelle. The band goes on at ten on the dot. Passion Pit music has delicious swells and fantastic melodies. This is achieved by no less than 10 synthesizers, bass, and drums. They sound exactly like their record live. It's kind of remarkable. Pick up Chunk of Change on ITUNES now. VIDEO: Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Via Pitchfork TV) VIDEO: MTV NEWS - Passion Pit at CMJ Labels: cmj, French Kiss, Passion Pit |
