VOICEsVOICEs - Sounds Outside EP
![]() VOICEsVOICEs (Los Angeles, CA) [MP3] VOICEsVOICEs - Tape Noon I received VOICEsVOICEs new Sounds Outside EP album earlier this month and must admit I knew nothing about the band. No less than 10 seconds into the two piece's warm ambient tracks filled with delicious drone and ethereal chanting I fell MADLY in love. Their music is largely instrumental with vocals hovering barely over a whisper and siren-like guitars taking the lead. "Tape Noon" (posted below) made the hairs on my arm prickle up. God I live for that. In my research for this post I also discovered that both Nico and Jenean of VOICEsVOICEs put in LOOOONG hours volunteering for the "No On Prop 8" campaign. It's so refreshing to see a band who is about more than just their own success. They even hosted a "Repeal Prop 8" benefit show at The Smell earlier this month that raised money for Courage Campaign and Equality California. With so many experimental ambient bands popping out of the Smell scene right now it's easy to get lost in the shuffle (See Caldera Lakes, Pocahaunted - BOTH AWESOME). I feel VOICEsVOICEs are truly unique and destined for great things. The band will be departing on a self-booked West Coast tour this February presented by Manimal Vinyl. Los Angeles readers can see VOICEsVOICEs this Friday at The Smell with alas alak alaska, fancie, & Y/Yamas de Mysticos. You can pick up their new EP Sounds Outside on CD baby.
