Tonight In Los Angeles: Chief, Michael Runion, Deerhoof, Horse The Band, Mason Proper, Stellastar

Chief (Santa Monica, CA)

[MP3] Chief - Stealing
[MP3] Michael Runion - 'Til We Have To

[JAX PICK]
Chief, Michael Runion, Mini Mansions @ Bootleg Theatre

Chief are on Domino recording and their tracks have recent perked up my senses. Hard to believe they have been hiding right here in plain site. Guess I don't pay much attention to music from the West Side these days.

My friend Ditte also sent along some music for Michael Runion and I’ve been playing it all day long. Very good new wave inspired tunes. "Til We Have To" is a total smash if you ask me. Download it above.

Mini Mansions will be heading out on tour with Autolux this fall. This definitely seems like the kind of show that people will be talking about for years to come as the “I was there first” show.

ALSO WORTH CHECKING OUT TONIGHT:

Horse the Band, Upsilon Acrux, All Leather
@ Eagle Rock Center For The Arts – Presented by Sean Carlson. I saw Horse The Band play at Chain Reaction back in 2004. Pioneers of the nintendo-core movement. They also played a ton of shows with my ex’s metalcore band. Yes, I dated a guy In a metalcore band. Ive also dated my fair share of men in skinny jeans.

Deerhoof, Busdriver, Avocet @ The Echoplex - Deerhoof are back!

Anavan, Dazzler
@ The Echo - Club Underground - Early show. I saw Anavan open for Monotonix at Spaceland a few months ago and they were absolutely fabulous!

Stellastarr*, Wild Light, Mason Proper @ Troubadour - Mason Proper's first show in Los Angeles ever. You may remember we featured them on Rock Insider back in 2006.

Don't Miss The Next Let's Independent

[MP3] Death To Anders - Camera Lens
[MP3] The Monolators - Eagle Fighting Zebra
[MP3] Wait Think Fast - Bridge and Cars

The lineup for Radio Free Silverlake's next "Lets Independent" night is one that certainly makes me proud. Next Tuesday Wait Think Fast, The Monolators, and Death To Anders will all grace the courtyard stage at Boardner's. Rock Insider has done shows with all three bands and can attest that this show is certainly worth adding to your Tuesday night hit list.

The show will also be Death To Anders' CD Release show for their new album Ficticious Business. "Camera Lens" posted above is off the new album is FANTASTIC - my favorite from the band thus far for sure.
