Birds Of Avalon (Raleigh, North Carolina) Photo by JAX Last Thursday Birds of Avalon destroyed The Echo. The band performed at Hell Ya! with Venus Infers and Cavil At Rest. The night was a little chaotic which led to only three of four band scheduled to perform actually playing. Man oh man - was that all forgotten when Birds of Avalon hit the stage. In a nutshell - They W-A-I-L-E-D. It's so rare to find a band that understands how to rock and man did they RAWK. They take all the best parts of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin and spin it to create a really intriguing sound and style that's entertaining to watch. Guitarist Cheetie Kumar stole the show in my opinion. One of the best female guitarists I've ever seen. Birds of Avalon recently released a full length entitled Outer, Upper, and Inner on Volcom Entertainment. The record is laden with monstrous riffs, classic rock sensibility and progressive psychedelic flavor. You need to pick it up and give it a listen. Birds of Avalon are finishing up dates with The Raconteurs and then will be heading overseas for the next two months. No word on when they're coming back to LA just yet.
